Jeremy Lin Foundation In Los Angeles

In February, ahead of Jeremy’s visit for All-Star Weekend, we visited local organizations to listen and learn about what youth need and how the organizations who serve them can best be supported.

We visited Search to Involve Pilipino Americans in Historic Filipinotown, Southeast Asian Community Alliance in Chinatown, and Asian Youth Center in the San Gabriel Valley.

In Filipinotown, we heard about youth who manage multiple jobs in addition to their academic studies and extracurricular activities to support their families. In Chinatown, we were told about multi-generational households who are burdened by rent payments, but cannot qualify for low-income housing. In the San Gabriel Valley, we heard about families who drive over an hour to pick-up groceries because they are scared to be in public spaces.

Los Angeles, along with New York and San Francisco, comprise the top three cities in the United States where Asian American youth have the highest need.

In the coming months we will be sharing more about an exciting pilot we are launching in Los Angeles!
